URGO URGOSTART HEEL 12 CM X 19 CM
Descriptions
Urgo UrgoStart Heel 12 cm x 19 cm is an absorbent matrix benefiting from micro-adherent Lipido-Colloid TLC Technology, an exclusive patented innovation from Urgo Laboratories. The micro-adherent TLC technology facilitates the application, positioning and removal of the plaster thanks to its micro-adherent properties.
UrgoStart is a micro-adherent, non-adhesive, non-occlusive absorbent matrix plaster. UrgoStart is indicated for the treatment of chronic exudative wounds (leg ulcers, pressure sores, diabetic foot wounds, chronicised acute wounds).
The UrgoStart Heel form is recommended in the treatment of chronic exudative wounds localised to the heel (heel pressure sores...).
Product benefits
- In contact with wound exudates, the micro-adherent TLC Lipido-Colloid Technology combined with NOSF confers specific properties to the matrix, favouring an optimal healing process.
- The absorbent polyurethane foam compress ensures optimal drainage of exudates, protecting the periwound skin from any maceration.
- The backing is flexible, conformable and very comfortable. It allows the plaster to conform to the anatomical contours of the wound.
- The plaster facilitates nursing care in terms of practicality and compliance with treatment. It can be applied under elastic or inelastic compression thanks to the retention of exudates in the plaster.
Directions for use
Clean the wound according to the usual care protocol and rinse with physiological saline solution. Carefully dry the periwound skin. UrgoStart can be cut with sterile material to adapt, if necessary, the size of the plaster to the wound.
- Standard shape: Remove the protective wings. Apply the micro-adherent side of the UrgoStart plaster to the wound. Hold the plaster in place with a NylexFix type fastening strip. Apply a compression bandage over the plaster when prescribed.
- Heel shape: The plaster is shaped like an arrow. Remove the protective flap. Position the arrow towards the front of the foot and place the heel in the centre of the micro-adherent side of the plaster. Attach the back of the arrow to the Achilles tendon. Remove the lateral wings and carefully apply the lateral parts of the plaster to both sides of the foot. Hold the plaster in place with a NylexFix type fastening strip. The UrgoStart plasters (standard or heel form) will be renewed every 2 to 4 days on average, and may be left in place for up to 7 days depending on the volume of exudates and the clinical condition of the wound, for a minimum of 4 to 5 weeks.
Precautions for use
The microadherent lipido-colloid mass of UrgoStart adheres to latex surgical gloves, so it is recommended to handle the product avoiding contact with the coated side or using sterile forceps. In the presence of a wound showing signs of significant bacterial colonisation, it is advisable to first treat the bacterial component before initiating treatment with UrgoStart. In the case of an atypical ulcer showing localised induration or excessive budding, UrgoStart treatment should only be initiated after checking that the ulcer is not degenerating, so as not to delay diagnosis. Possible tingling sensations, or even painful sensations, have been reported mainly at the beginning of treatment with UrgoStart: related to the product's activity on the resumption of the scarring process, these rarely justify suspension of treatment. In the absence of clinical data in acute uncomplicated wounds and in the context of epidermolysis bullosa, regardless of its age, the use of UrgoStart is not recommended. Do not resterilise the plaster. Individually sterile, single-use packaging: re-use of a single-use plaster may cause a risk of infection.
Contra-indications
Do not use in wounds that are refractory to healing, as this may delay appropriate management, i.e. cancerous wounds and fistulous wounds revealing deep abscessation.
