FRONTLINE SPRAY 250 ML
Descriptions
Frontline Spray 250 ml eliminates adult fleas and ticks. Applied as a spray, Frontline Spray works in less than 4 hours. It is the ideal attack solution during massive infestations, to treat very young animals or for an economical solution to treat animals of different weights.
Description for use, specifying target species
Fipronil-sensitive parasite infections in dogs and cats weighing less than 5 kg for Frontline Spray Pompe 0.5 ml and in dogs and cats weighing more than 5 kg for Frontline Spray Pompe 1.5 ml.
For dogs:
- Prevention and treatment of flea and tick infestations.
- Elimination of chewing lice.
The duration of efficacy against new flea infestations varies from 60 to 90 days. Effective against new tick infestations for approximately 30 days.
For cats:
- Prevention and treatment of flea and tick infestations.
- Elimination of chewing lice.
Effective against new flea infestations for approximately 40 days. Effective against new tick infestations for 2 weeks. The drug can be incorporated into a therapeutic programme for dermatitis caused by flea bite allergy.
Directions for use
Spray over the entire surface of the body, holding the bottle at a distance of approximately 10-20 cm. Apply to the back of the hair, taking care to cover the entire animal so that the coat is evenly wet. Work the product into the skin. Allow to dry without wiping.
Posology
Administration route: cutaneous, as a spray. The basic dose is 7.5 mg/kg of fipronil per kg of body weight, i.e. 3 ml of solution per kg, i.e. 6 presses of the 0.5 ml pump per kg and 2 presses of the 1.5 ml pump per kg. This dosage may be increased to 15 mg of fipronil per kg, i.e. 6 ml of solution per kg, 12 squeezes of the 0.5 ml pump per kg and 4 squeezes of the 1.5 ml pump per kg, to take account of the length of the hair and allow the animal to be fully impregnated. In the absence of tolerance data, the minimum treatment interval is 4 weeks.
Contre-indications
Do not use in sick animals systemic diseases, fever... or convalescents. Do not use in rabbits, as sometimes lethal side effects may occur. Do not use in the event of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to one of the excipients.
Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals.
This product may cause irritation of the mucous membranes and eyes. Therefore, avoid contact of the product with the mouth and eyes. Animals or users with a known hypersensitivity to insecticides or alcohol should avoid contact with the medicine. Avoid contact of contents with fingers. If this occurs, wash hands with soap and water. In the event of accidental exposure to eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water. Wash hands after use. Do not handle treated animals and do not allow children to play with treated animals until the application site is dry. It is therefore recommended that animals are not treated during the day but rather in the early evening, and that recently treated animals are not allowed to sleep with their owners, especially children. Do not smoke, drink or eat during application. As with all insecticides, it is advisable to wear gloves and to treat animals in a well-ventilated area. Do not breathe the product.
Specific warnings for each target species.
Avoid contact with the animal's eyes. Do not exceed the prescribed dose. Do not spray directly onto damaged skin. Allow treated animals to dry in a well-ventilated room. Do not confine animals in a closed space or in an animal transport bag until the coat is completely dry. In the absence of specific safety and efficacy data, it is not recommended to use the product in species other than dogs and cats.
Special precautions for use in animals.
It is important to ensure that animals do not lick each other. Animals should not be allowed to swim in watercourses for 2 days. Do not wash animals with shampoo for 2 days before and after applying the product. Attached ticks may occasionally be observed. For this reason, the transmission of infectious diseases cannot be completely ruled out if conditions are unfavourable. Fleas often infest pets' baskets, sleeping areas and usual resting places such as carpets and sofas. In the event of a massive infestation, these areas should be treated at the start of treatment with a suitable insecticide and vacuumed regularly.

Adverse reactions (frequency and severity).
In the event of licking, a brief period of hypersalivation due to the nature of the excipient may be observed. Among the extremely rarely suspected side effects, transient cutaneous reactions, erythema, pruritus or alopecia have been reported after use. Exceptionally, hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms hyperaesthesia, depression, nervous symptoms, vomiting or respiratory symptoms have been observed after use. The effects observed are likely to be more severe in puppies under 6 months of age. Do not overdose.
Use during pregnancy and/or lactation and egg laying.
Laboratory studies have not demonstrated a teratogenic effect of fipronil in rats and rabbits.
Fipronil is well tolerated by puppies after treatment of lactating females. No specific studies on the use of the product during pregnancy in bitches or cats or during the lactation period in cats are available. Use should only be made after assessment of the benefit/risk ratio established by the veterinarian.
