Biocanina Tetramethrin Shampoo Dog Cat 200 ml is a larvicidal and adulticidal flea repellent for cats and dogs. Treats pets and the home.

Biocanina anti-pest Shampoo Dog Cat treats infestations by fleas, lice and ticks for cats and dogs.

Tetramethrin, a molecule in the pyrethroid family, is characterised by its insecticide and acaricide activity. The molecule acts by contact, blocking the transmission of nerve impulses in insects. These effects are attributed to variations in the membrane permeability of axons to sodium and potassium ions.

Directions for use
External use. Use approximately 1.5 ml of shampoo per kg of body weight (i.e. 1.5 mg of tetramethrin per kg) corresponding to approximately 25 ml of shampoo for an animal weighing 15 kg. Wet the animal thoroughly with lukewarm water. Apply the shampoo to the back and neck, taking care to avoid the eyes. Rub vigorously, adding more water if necessary, to obtain a rich lather to spread over the animal's entire body. Leave for 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Repeat the treatment twice a week if necessary.

Precautions for use
Undesirable effects have been observed in both target species, mainly in cats: mainly nervous symptoms (lethargy, ataxia, tremors or even convulsions), as well as digestive symptoms (vomiting, diarrhoea) associated or not with anorexia. Treatment is symptomatic. Do not use on sick or convalescent animals or those with extensive skin lesions. Do not use other pyrethroid insecticides at the same time. Avoid contact with the animal's eyes or mouth. In the event of contact, rinse thoroughly with water.
Do not use on kittens under 2 months of age.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicine to animals
Wash hands after use. Do not smoke, drink or eat during application. In the event of accidental exposure to eyes, rinse thoroughly with water. Use in a well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors. Keep away from food and drink, including pet food.

Other precautions
Tetramethrin may have a toxic effect on aquatic organisms. Do not allow dogs to bathe in watercourses in the days following application of the product.

Use during pregnancy or lactation
Do not use in pregnant or nursing females.

Biocanina Advice
In the event of massive infestation, give your dog or cat an Anti-Pest shampoo and apply the spot-on 48 hours later.
